However, FTW is not a medical practice and our services do not replace medical care or treatment from an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.

This Disclaimer forms part of the Fight The Weight™ Terms & Conditions.

1. Educational and Coaching Services

The information provided through the FTW website, digital products, social media, coaching programmes, training programmes, educational materials, videos, presentations, emails, WhatsApp groups and other FTW resources is provided for educational and coaching purposes.

  • physical activity;
  • strength training;
  • habits;
  • sleep;

  • other lifestyle-related topics.

The information should not be interpreted as individualised medical diagnosis or medical treatment.

2. FTW Is Not a Medical Service

Fight The Weight™ is not a doctor, medical practice, clinic or emergency healthcare service.

FTW does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent medical conditions.

Nothing provided through FTW should be considered a substitute for:

  • medical diagnosis;

If you have a medical condition or concern about your health, you should consult an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.

3. Qualification and Scope of Practice

FTW’s services are based on education, coaching and practical weight-management guidance.

FTW does not represent itself as a registered medical practitioner, registered dietitian, clinical psychologist, physiotherapist or other regulated healthcare professional unless expressly stated otherwise.

The fact that FTW provides information about nutrition, weight loss, exercise, hormones, insulin, metabolism or other health-related subjects does not mean that FTW is providing medical treatment.

Our educational content is intended to help clients understand the principles behind sustainable lifestyle change and to work more effectively with their own healthcare professionals where appropriate.

4. Individual Differences

There is no single approach to weight management that is appropriate for every person.

Individual responses to nutrition, exercise, calorie intake, sleep, stress and lifestyle changes can vary significantly.

Factors that may affect an individual’s results include:

  • age;
  • sex;
  • genetics;
  • body composition;
  • current weight;
  • activity levels;
  • sleep;
  • stress;
  • medications;
  • medical conditions;
  • hormonal conditions;
  • previous dieting history;
  • nutritional intake;
  • adherence; and
  • other individual circumstances.

Accordingly, information provided by FTW should be considered within the context of the individual client.

5. No Guaranteed Results

FTW does not guarantee weight loss or any particular physical or health outcome.

Purchasing or completing an FTW programme does not guarantee:

  • a specific amount of weight loss;
  • a specific amount of fat loss;
  • a specific body-fat percentage;
  • a particular clothing size;
  • a specific measurement;
  • a specific rate of progress;
  • improved blood results;
  • reversal of a medical condition; or
  • any other particular outcome.

Results depend on numerous individual factors and cannot be guaranteed.

Testimonials, before-and-after photographs and examples of client results represent individual experiences and should not be interpreted as guaranteed results.

6. Nutrition Information

FTW provides general nutrition education and may provide personalised nutrition targets as part of certain coaching services.

Nutrition information may include discussion of:

  • calorie intake;
  • macronutrients;
  • protein;
  • carbohydrates;
  • dietary fat;

  • meal structure;
  • portion sizes;
  • food choices;
  • meal planning;
  • hydration; and
  • other nutrition-related topics.

This information is intended to support healthy lifestyle and weight-management goals.

It is not intended to diagnose or treat a nutritional deficiency, eating disorder, metabolic disorder, gastrointestinal condition or other medical condition.

Where a client has a diagnosed medical condition requiring therapeutic nutrition, the client should obtain appropriate advice from a registered dietitian and/or medical practitioner.

7. Exercise and Training

FTW may provide training programmes, exercise recommendations and general physical-activity guidance.

Clients are responsible for exercising within their own capabilities.

Before beginning a new exercise programme, you should consider whether you are physically able to participate safely.

You should obtain medical clearance where appropriate, particularly if you:

  • have a known medical condition;
  • have a history of cardiovascular disease;
  • experience unexplained chest pain;
  • experience dizziness or fainting;
  • have a significant injury;
  • have recently undergone surgery;
  • are pregnant or recently gave birth;
  • have been advised by a healthcare professional to restrict exercise; or
  • have any other concern regarding your ability to exercise safely.

Stop exercising and seek appropriate medical attention if you experience concerning or severe symptoms during exercise.

FTW does not provide emergency medical assistance.

8. Medication

FTW does not prescribe, recommend, initiate, discontinue or alter prescription medication.

This includes, without limitation:

  • weight-loss medication;
  • diabetes medication;
  • insulin;
  • blood-pressure medication;
  • antidepressants;
  • hormonal medication; and
  • other prescription or controlled medication.

If you are taking medication, do not change your medication or dosage based on information provided by FTW.

Any medication-related decisions should be made with your prescribing doctor or another appropriately qualified healthcare professional.

9. Medical Conditions

Clients must use appropriate professional medical care for diagnosed or suspected medical conditions.

This is particularly important for conditions including, but not limited to:

  • diabetes;
  • cardiovascular disease;
  • hypertension;
  • kidney disease;
  • liver disease;
  • thyroid conditions;
  • eating disorders;
  • gastrointestinal disorders;
  • hormonal disorders;
  • pregnancy-related conditions;
  • severe obesity-related complications;
  • mental-health conditions; and
  • other chronic or acute medical conditions.

FTW coaching should not be used as a substitute for medical management.

10. Eating Disorders and Disordered Eating

FTW promotes sustainable, balanced approaches to nutrition and weight management.

However, weight-loss coaching may not be appropriate for individuals currently experiencing an eating disorder or significant disordered eating.

If you have, or believe you may have:

  • anorexia nervosa;
  • bulimia nervosa;
  • binge-eating disorder;
  • another diagnosed eating disorder; or
  • significant distress or compulsive behaviour relating to food, weight or body image,

you should seek appropriate professional support.

FTW may recommend that a client seek support from a qualified healthcare or mental-health professional where we reasonably believe that additional care is appropriate.

11. Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

FTW weight-loss programmes are not intended to promote intentional weight loss during pregnancy.

If you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding, you should consult your doctor, midwife and/or registered dietitian regarding your nutritional and physical-activity requirements.

Do not begin a weight-loss programme during pregnancy based solely on information provided by FTW.

12. Supplements

FTW educational content may discuss vitamins, minerals, supplements or other nutritional products.

Discussion of a supplement does not constitute a recommendation that every person should use that supplement.

Supplements can interact with medications or may be inappropriate for individuals with certain medical conditions.

Clients should discuss supplement use with an appropriately qualified healthcare professional where necessary.

13. Health Information Provided by Clients

Clients may voluntarily provide information relating to:

  • weight;
  • body measurements;
  • nutrition;
  • exercise;
  • medical conditions;
  • medication;
  • injuries;
  • lifestyle;
  • sleep;
  • menstrual or hormonal information;
  • progress; and
  • other health-related matters.

This information may be used to provide the coaching service requested by the client.

Health information may constitute special personal information under POPIA, which receives additional protection under South African law.

FTW’s handling of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy / POPIA Policy.

14. Client Responsibility for Information

Clients are responsible for providing accurate and complete information relevant to their coaching.

You should inform FTW of any information that could reasonably affect the suitability or safety of a programme, including relevant:

  • medical conditions;
  • injuries;
  • medication;
  • physical limitations;
  • pregnancy;
  • significant changes in health; and
  • other relevant circumstances.

FTW cannot make an appropriate coaching decision based on information that has not been disclosed.

15. Listening to Your Body

Clients should use reasonable judgement when participating in nutrition and exercise recommendations.

You should not continue an activity simply because it has been included in a programme if you experience symptoms indicating that you should stop.

Where appropriate, seek professional medical assistance.

Examples of symptoms requiring appropriate medical attention may include:

  • chest pain or pressure;
  • severe shortness of breath;
  • fainting;
  • severe dizziness;
  • significant or sudden pain;
  • unusual neurological symptoms;
  • severe allergic reactions; or
  • other serious or concerning symptoms.

FTW is not an emergency medical service.

In an emergency, contact the appropriate emergency medical service.

16. Coaching Does Not Replace Professional Care

FTW coaching may complement an individual’s existing healthcare and wellness practices, but it should not replace professional medical care.

Clients remain responsible for:

  • attending medical appointments;
  • following medical advice;
  • taking medication as prescribed;
  • completing recommended medical testing;
  • managing diagnosed conditions; and
  • seeking professional care when required.

17. Scientific and Educational Information

FTW aims to provide evidence-informed educational content.

However, health and nutrition research continues to evolve.

Information may change as new scientific evidence becomes available.

FTW does not guarantee that every educational resource will remain current indefinitely and may update or replace content when appropriate.

Where educational information is based on scientific research, FTW may provide references or further-reading resources where appropriate.

18. Individualised Coaching Is Not Medical Diagnosis

Where FTW provides personalised calorie, macro, training or lifestyle targets, these are provided within the scope of our coaching service.

A personalised target does not constitute a medical prescription or medical treatment plan.

Clients with medical conditions that require therapeutic nutrition or exercise should obtain appropriate professional guidance.

19. No Emergency Support

FTW does not provide:

  • emergency medical support;
  • emergency mental-health support;
  • 24-hour medical monitoring;
  • emergency nutrition intervention; or
  • emergency exercise supervision.

Messages sent through email, WhatsApp or the coaching application may not be reviewed immediately.

Do not use FTW communication channels for medical emergencies.

20. Assumption of Responsibility

By voluntarily participating in an FTW coaching or training programme, you acknowledge that you are responsible for making appropriate decisions regarding your participation and for seeking professional advice where necessary.

You agree to communicate relevant limitations or concerns to FTW and to stop or modify activities where appropriate.

Nothing in this Disclaimer is intended to exclude or limit any liability or consumer right that cannot legally be excluded under South African law.

The Consumer Protection Act places restrictions on unfair contractual terms and on requiring consumers to waive rights or supplier liabilities in circumstances where doing so would be prohibited.

21. No Waiver of Legal Rights

This Disclaimer does not remove any statutory rights available to consumers under South African law.

Nothing in this Disclaimer is intended to:

  • exclude statutory consumer protections;
  • waive rights that cannot legally be waived;
  • exclude liability where exclusion is prohibited by law; or
  • prevent a consumer from exercising a lawful remedy.

22. Acceptance

By purchasing, accessing or participating in an FTW programme or service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Health & Coaching Disclaimer.

You understand that:

Fight The Weight™ provides education and coaching—not medical treatment.

You understand that individual results vary and that FTW does not guarantee a particular outcome.

You also understand that you remain responsible for seeking appropriate professional medical advice where required.
